Lynda Scobey Stone

Lynda Scobey Stone– Owner and President
Born in Washington, D.C., Lynda enjoyed growing up in Virginia, Maryland as well as spending almost 3 years in Japan. While attending a comprehensive high school associated with the University of Maryland, Lynda had the opportunity to explore her first love, music and to map out a career path in voice. She entered David Lipscomb College in the summer of 1966 as a music major. In 1968 she met and married her husband of forty years, Jack Stone. Jack graduated from David Lipscomb College in 1967 with a degree in Business Administration.

Jack and Lynda have two daughters, Kristi Stone Elzinga who also graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1995 with a degree in Accounting. She is now a CPA and works part-time in Human Resources/Marketing for Puffy Muffin, Inc. Lynda’s youngest daughter, Ali Caroline Burns, graduated from Lipscomb High School in 1992 and entered the nursing program at Middle Tennessee State University. Later, Ali graduated from the Chicago French Pastry School and now manages the Cake Design and Marketing for Puffy Muffin, Inc. Ali and Kristi both serve as Vice Presidents on the Puffy Muffin Board of Directors. Lynda and Jack have five grandchildren.

In 1986 Lynda began her business, the Puffy Muffin, out of her home kitchen. Twenty three years later, the Puffy Muffin has two locations, and Lynda has published a cookbook, “Memories in the Making.” She is a graduate of Leadership Brentwood, and past chair of the Star Gala Patron’s Party. She was the Chair of the 2008 Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce Star Gala. She now serves on the Board of Directors of the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber where she enjoys the distinction of ambassador. Lynda also serves on the New Member Engagement Committee for the Chamber.

Lynda has dedicated her business career to ethics and excellence in the workplace. Puffy Muffin received the 2003 Williamson County Small Business Award. She and the Puffy Muffin hold the designation of the 2007 Williamson County Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Award for “Market Place Ethics.” She was also a semi-finalist for the Middle Tennessee BBB Ambassador.

Lynda continues to be active in her church and is a volunteer with The Association for Christian Character Development, sponsoring the ministry's trainings and workshops in the Nashville area. She has also served on the board of Obed Ministries in Israel. Lynda has been awarded the distinction of Black Belt Candidate in Wado Ru Karate.

Jack Owen Stone

Jack Owen Stone – Senior Vice President
Born in Wyandot County, Ohio and grew up near Marion, Ohio. He was president of his senior class and a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation he worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad for four years as an apprentice and became a machinist. He returned to school entering David Lipscomb College in 1963. He graduated in 1967 with a BS Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics.

After graduation from college Jack worked for the Boy Scouts of America for two years. As a District Scout Executive he assisted in the coordination of all recruiting, training and administrative activities for the Hermitage District, the largest district of the Middle Tennessee Council. In 1967 Jack began work at the National Life and Accident Insurance Company in the Data Processing Department as a Systems Analyst. In his thirty-six years with the company he served in several administrative and management positions in the Controller and Marketing Departments. The last half of this career involved many corporate mergers, including American General (AG) and American International Group (AIG). He was very involved in the coordination of local office consolidations, clerical staffing and budgetary analysis. He retired from AIG in 2007.

Since retirement Jack has been involved with the Brentwood/Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce as a chamber member and on the 2008 Star Gala Committee. In 2007 he served successfully as the Campaign Manager for a candidate that was elected to the Williamson County School Board. During the past three years he has served in the positions of Treasurer and President of the Burghley Place Home Owners Association. Jack met Lynda Scobey at college and they were married in 1968, and celebrated their fortieth anniversary in 2008. They have two daughters, Kristi Lynne Elzinga and Ali Caroline Burns. They now have five grandchildren. Both Kristi and Ali are involved with the family restaurant, Puffy Muffin, Inc. They are currently on the Board of Directors and serve as Vice Presidents of the company.

Lynda began her business, the Puffy Muffin, Inc. in 1968. Jack has worked with her through the development of her business, and is currently on the Board of Directors and serves as Senior Vice President of the company.

Jack is actively involved in his church and is a volunteer for Teen Challenge. He is a sponsor with The Association for Christian Character Development, providing trainings and seminars in the Nashville area. He has also served on the board of Koinonia Christian Bookstore and Obed Ministries in Israel.

Jason Burns

Jason Burns – Chief Operations Officer
Jason Burns lives with his wife Ali and their two children, Matthew and Hannah in Franklin TN. He and his family attend Fellowship Bible church in Brentwood TN.

Jason was born in Nashville and attended St. Ann Elementary and Father Ryan High School. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Aquinas Junior College.

Jason worked for Brennan Custom Construction as a site foreman in residential construction from 1989 to 1991. He began his restaurant career as a server in 1991 with JAlexanders and transitioned into management in July 1992.

Jason joined the Puffy Muffin team as a store manager in August 1995 and was named Chief Operating Officer in October 2005.

Jason was chosen as a member of the Leadership Brentwood class of 2009 and is active in the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce. He enjoys golf, coaching youth sports teams and volunteering for various youth and teen ministry organizations.

Ali C. Burns

Ali C. Burns – Vice President, Co-Director of Marketing
Ali C. Burns is a wife and mother of two who assists Puffy Muffin in management leadership, marketing, and product design. She was born in Maryland in 1973 and moved to Tennessee, where she has spent the majority of her life. She graduated from David Lipscomb in 1992 and then attended MTSU until her first child was born.

Ali volunteers with the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. She is the 2009 Chair of the Patrons party for the Star Gala. The funds raised from the Star Gala go to support education in Williamson County. Ali also spends her time volunteering for The Association for Christian Character Development (ACCD) which benefits family restoration, one of her many passions. She also enjoys art and music.

Ali started her career at Puffy Muffin in 1988. In 1995 she began the cake design department and has specializes in creating wedding and event cakes. After attending a class at the French Pastry School in Chicago, taught by Colette Peters, she brought many new skills which make cake design a unique part of Puffy Muffin. Ali offers a wide range of services for Puffy Muffin, still specializing in designing one-of-a-kind cakes for special events.

Ali serves as a Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Puffy Muffin as well as a member of the Marketing team

Kristi Stone Elzinga

Kristi Stone Elzinga – Vice President, Co-Director of Marketing
Kristi began her work with Puffy Muffin in 1986, delivering her mother’s fresh baked bread to restaurants after school. After graduating from Brentwood Academy, she attended Abilene Christian University on a piano scholarship, where she studied piano and voice. She went on to David Lipscomb University where she graduated with a B.S. degree in Accounting. Kristi is a Certified Public Accountant and worked in the healthcare industry for 7 years.

Kristi and her husband, John, lived in Fort Benning, GA while John served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. During their time at Fort Benning, Kristi worked as an auditor with a company based in Brentwood, TN, and served as a Worship Leader of a local church. In 1999, Kristi and John moved back to Nashville, and then moved their family to Lexington, KY where they lived for 2 years. In 2005, they moved back to Franklin, TN and Kristi returned to Puffy Muffin part-time in Human Resource and Marketing.

Kristi is a volunteer with the Association for Christian Character Development, helping with trainings and workshops in the Nashville area. She served as Secretary of the 2007 Star Gala Committee, with the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce. Kristi and her family attend Fellowship Bible Church, and she volunteers in her children’s school. Kristi has a passion for music and enjoys spending time with her family.

Kristi currently lives in Franklin, TN with her husband and their three children.

John Elzinga

John Elzinga – Board of Directors
John Elzinga and his wife Kristi live in Franklin TN with their children.

Born in Cambridge MA, John has lived in the Boston area, Long Island NY, and New Jersey while growing up. He attended Guilford College in Greensboro NC where he received a BS degree in Business Administration in 1991.

In 1992, he joined the US Army, where he served as an Infantry Officer until 1999. He completed Ranger, Airborne, Air-Assault, and Officer Candidate schools, and he served in the 101st Airborne and 3rd Infantry Divisions.

From 1999 until 2004, he worked for Johnson and Johnson as a pharmaceutical sales representative and manager, and in 2005, he joined Smith and Nephew Orthopedics where is currently a region sales director, based in Nashville.

His professional expertise is in sales and sales management, and his hobbies include playing golf, and helping coach his children’s baseball teams.
