Brentwood High School sophomore Carrie Deese wanted to get involved as a soccer coach with Special Olympics but found out there was a much greater need on a financial level. So instead she organized a golf tournament last year that raised $17,000 for the Special Olympics of Williamson County, and is well on her way to her $25,000 goal this year.

Today she is named Brentwood Home Page’s Puffy Muffin Community Hero, a monthly award given to someone who is making a difference.

Kelly Putty, a mother of six kids, believes being an assault victim as a teenager ultimately led her to open her eyes and help those in need, from the homeless at home to orphans across the world. Her servant's heart from her work with matching those who want to serve to help the people with needs, has earned her the first Puffy Muffin Community Hero award in partnership with Brentwood Home Page.

Putty, who has attended Bethel World Outreach church for 19 years and lives in Nolensville, turned her part-time passion into a full-time ministry through her nonprofit organization, Ordinary Hero (www.ordinaryhero.org).
